The Exhibition

at various locations around Launceston City.

A series of photographic sessions will capture the achievements of another diverse group of people in our city, and will highlight the amazing characters that live and work here. A series of portraits will be produced that will celebrate individuals from all walks of life, that work for, and in our community, making Launceston such a rich and diverse city. Each portrait consists of 3 elements: The photograph, the individual’s signature, and, a short statement about themselves detailing their ideas on what it means to live here and their hopes for the future of our city. This will give great depth to the viewing experience, as the added information will allow the visitor to uncover multiple layers of the persons personality. This exhibition that will appeal to all levels of the community and aims to highlight the rich tapestry that is our city.In a break from previous versions of this project, this exhibition will be spread throughout the city. The images will be printed on a relatively new photographic medium made of an adhesive vinyl which can stick to walls, shop windows, etc and can be removed and repositioned and which leaves no residue or damage. It is planned that the Faces of Launceston project be continued beyond this phase and hopefully will grow into a very comprehensive documentation of the people that made Launceston their home around the end of the 20th century and into the early part of the 21st Century.
